CID West Bengal is committed to counter modern age crimes like Cyber-crime using innovative methods and techniques. We have a State-of-the-art Cyber-Forensics and Digital Evidence Examiners’ Laboratory (CFDEEL) to provide forensic opinion in Cyber Crime cases which inter-alia helps a lot in quick identification of crime / criminal in different Cyber Crime cases across the State. We also have an ultra-modern Cyber Forensics Training Laboratory (CFTL) to provide training on Cyber Crime/Cyber-Forensics domain to the police personnel of different districts of West Bengal State as part of capacity building in the cyber domain. Apart from that we have a Cyber Crime Police Station at the CID Head Quarter. A Cyber Security and Cyber Safety cell is also there to cope up with the new cyber threats/challenges in the cyber world, encountered day-to-day in CID and different units of West Bengal Police.

CID West Bengal is the State Nodal Agency for prevention of different crime domains which includes Human Trafficking & Crime Against Women & Children, Cyber Crime cases, Missing Persons etc. It has a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) to handle bomb calls across the State through its 16 bomb disposal units located in different districts of West Bengal. The oldest Finger Print Bureau of our Country functions under this premier organization. It has a Questioned Document Examination Bureau (QDEB) to examine forged/fabricated documents in different cases received from all the police stations of West Bengal including Kolkata Police jurisdictions, Civil Courts including Hon’ble High Court, Calcutta and the neighbouring States as well.

It's my pleasure to welcome you to the official website of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) West Bengal. It is an honour to serve as the Chief of CID WB which is one of the oldest police departments in India having established in the year 1906 after the partition of Bengal. We, at CID West Bengal are committed to our motto of Fight Crime and Win and we have an illustrious history. Time and again we have proved that CID West Bengal is one of the most competent and efficient police departments in India. CID West Bengal has many specialized units and investigating teams at its head quarters in Kolkata. CID West Bengal has also Cyber Police Station functioning from its head quarters. CID West Bengal is ably supported by 24 detective department field units stationed at every district head quarters/important cities throughout the State of West Bengal. CID West Bengal has the pride of having the oldest finger print bureau in the world. This finger print bureau at CID West Bengal has completed 125 years of glorious service to our nation in 2022. In this ever evolving era of technological advancement, crimes associated with cyber space and network using the technology by unanimous criminals become very challenging for any police force. At CID West Bengal we are fully equipped to face up this challenge with many specialized units under our fold. We operate the citizen centric service of toll free cyber crime help line number 1930 for the State of West Bengal. In the event of any cyber crime involving deduction of money from the accounts of victims, this helpline aims to provide immediate protection to block the movement of money/bank account through money trail and activate intervention of respective law enforcement agency. I would urge everyone to share this number to friends and families so that it could be of some help to someone in the hours of need. OUR Achievements

Belghoria PS Case No. 960 dated. 09/11/2017 u/s 366A/370/376/109/120B I.P.C, Section 3/4/5/6/7/9 ITPA, section 17 read with section 4 of POCSO Act. (1)On 08/11/2017 Inspector Gautam Saha, O/C AHTU, CID and team held raid in a hotel styled as “Blue Star Guest House” situated at Dakshineswar under PS- Belghoria in which a racket of commercial sexual exploitation involving minor and major girls were being run. During the said raid 4 Minor, 11 Major victim girls were recovered from the said guest house. 18 persons including manager, traffickers and customers were arrested. Chargesheet was submitted on 03/02/2018. The case was under trial monitoring from the very beginning by team of Barrackpore, DD. (2) Custodial trial was intiated in this case in the court of Ld ADJ 1st Court, Barrackpore. (3) Today(04/03/2024) Ld. Court convicted 6(six) accused persons for 10 years rigorous imprisonment and awarded Rs. 3 lakh compensation to each of the recovered victim girls. Today Ld ADJ 1st court cum Ld Spl Judge, NDPS Act Krishnanagar, Nadia sentenced 14(fourteen) years of rigorous imprisonment and one lakh fine of arrested accused person Safikul Islam Sk. in c/w Karimpur PS case No. 53/20 dt 5/3/20 u/s 21(C)/25/29 NDPS Act (NDPS No. 21/20) Gist of the case :- On 04.03.2020 in pursuant a secret source information Narcotic Cell, CID, WB held raid at Jagat Janani road under PS- Karimpur, Nadia and intercepted one Maruti Van bearing no. WB58AP9567 loaded with total 53kg 500gms of Codeine mixture containing in three separate mineral water jars along with 25200/- cash from the exclusive possession of the accused persons namely i) Safikul Islam Sk.(45yrs) s/o Abdur Rahaman Sk. and ii) Shyamal Sarkar(30yrs) s/o Santosh Sarkar and both of them arrested by narcotic cell CID WB for selling the same to the criminals dealing with such type of clandestine business. Complainant - SI Samir Ghosh of Narcotic Cell IO: - SI J Naskar of Narcotic Cell PP :- Shri Gopal Rajak of Spl court(NDPS Act) The custody trial of the case has been monitored by Narcotic Cell. During custody trial one JC accd Shyamal Sarkar expired in R G Kar Medical College due to sudden illness.

Baruipur PS Case no 1150 dt 5/9/23 u/s 363/365370/370(A)(2) IPC was taken control by CID on 26/12/23. On 16/02/2024, a team of AHTU held a raid near Sealdah RS and secured arrest of absconding human trafficker Sk. Sabir Alam @ Sattar (38 yrs) PS- Nowda, Dist- Murshidabad. He purchased and sold the victim lady & her minor son at Delhi. The accd would be produced today i.e on 17/02/2024 before Ld. ACJM Baruipur with a prayer for TI Parade.

One Lalu Sk was convicted for the murder of one Asraf Sk in c/w Bharatpur PS Case No. 148/ 15 dated 12.04.2015 U/s 302/34 IPC and was sentenced to life imprisonment on 30.1.2018. A fake bail order of Hon'ble Calcutta High Court dated 02.03.2021 was manufactured and placed before Ld. ADJ Court, Kandi on 06.03.2021 by one lawyer, named Arindam Roy, working hand in gloves with the said convicted person. On the basis of the said forged bail order, which was apparently considered to be an original one by the Ld. ADJ Court, Kandi, the release on bail of the said convict Lalu Sk was secured on 06.03.2021. After the matter came to the notice of the Hon’ble Calcutta High Court, a criminal case was registered on the complaint of the Hon’ble Registrar General of the Hon’ble High Court with respect to the forged order. This refers to Kandi PS Case No. 600/23 dated 04.10.2023 u/s 420/465/466/467/468/469/471/472/473/474/120 IPC. The investigation of the case was taken up by CID, West Bengal on the direction of the Hon’ble High Court. While the son of the convict Labu Sk and the lawyer, Arindam Roy who had helped the convict in getting the forged bail order were arrested in course of the investigation of the above mentioned case, Lalu Sk had been absconding. In the early hours of today morning (22.01.2024), Lalu Sk was finally arrested from Angarpur under Bharatpur PS, Murshidabad PD by a team of CID, West Bengal. He has been forwarded to Ld. Court today itself with a request for police remand.

Today Ld ADJ 4th court Paschim Midnapore cum Spl Court under NDPS Act sentenced ten years of rigorous imprisonment and one lakh fine of both arrested accused persons in c/w Kharagpur Local PS case No. 36/21 dt 14/01/2021 u/s 20(b)(ii)(c)/25/29 NDPS Act (NDPS No. 1/21 ) Gist of the case :- On 14.01.2021 acting on secret source information Narcotic Cell CID being accompanied with Paschim Medinipur DD held raid on NH-60 near Rupnarayanpur “Khan Dharamkanta”, PS-Kharagpur (Local) Kolkata bound luxury public bus bearing Regd. No. OD11G4561 styled as “Nilamadhab” and apprehended two accused persons namely 1) Debashis Das (25yrs) s/o Lt. Laxmikanta Das of Sannyalchak, P.S- Chakdah, Dist- Nadia and 2) Bappa Das (19yrs) s/o Ramen Das of Jirat Uttar Gopalpur, P.S-Balagarh, Dist- Hooghly and recovered 40 kg 450 Grams of Cannabis. Complainant: - SI Debasis Biswas of Kharagpur DD CID WB, IO: - SI Samir Ghosh of Narcotics Cell PP - Shri Debasish Maity of Paschim Midnapore Court The custody trial of the case has been monitored by Narcotic Cell. During custody trial few months ago the JC accd Bappa Das threatened the IO of the case in dire consequences by unknown mobile number from Midnapore Correctional Home. As per direction a team of Narcotic Cell with the help of local police & Jail Superintendent made search at prisoners Cell of Midnapore Correctional Home & recovered two mobile sets with SIM card. Accordingly jail authority seized those mobile sets with SIM card & initiated legal action against the JC accd persons. The entire fact informed from our end to Ld Judge of trial court with all relevant documents & audio clipping of mobile conversations of threatening of the JC accused persons.
