At CID West Bengal, We realize that a missing person can be a source of immense trauma and concern for family members and friends. Each year about 1,000 people are reported missing from West Bengal. The good news however is that the CID Missing Persons Bureau is here to help find your loved ones. Most of the missing persons reported are located, with more than half simply failing to tell their families. Some people deliberately want to stay 'lost'" and a small number are victims of foul play. Hence don't panic , report the details of missing person to your police station.
What should be done when a person is missing
- The complainant is to make a General Diary at the Police Station where the incident of missing occurs supplying the Photographs of the missing person.
- To report the same to CID, West Bengal the following documents are required.
a. General Diary Number
b. 24 Copies of Black & White Passport size photographs of the missing subject.
c. One Black & White Postcard size photograph of the missing subject.
d. An application with full particulars of the missing subject.
This will ensure wide publicity through public media i.e. Doordarshan, All India Radio, Daily News Paper and also through Criminal Intelligence Gazette, Missing Persons Website of CID, West Bengal and other Government Office to trace out the missing person.
